Job description

We need people who are caring, supportive, great at communicating, and thrive on looking after others. We are looking for somebody who can help us provide the very best care possible to our patients — somebody with an empathetic nature and an enthusiastic approach will be perfect in this role.

YOUR PASSION. YOUR CAREER. YOUR WAY
  • NO WALK INS, TRAC INVITE ONLY *
  • DO NOT APPLY IF YOU'VE HAD AN INTERVIEW WITHIN 6 MONTHS*

The role of a Healthcare Support Worker is fulfilling, varied, and impactful. You will play a vital role in caring for our patients, assisting with their daily needs such as personal care, observations, mealtimes, toileting, and mobility — as well as performing medical checks like taking temperatures, pulse, and respiration. This care is critical to supporting our patients' recovery and providing them with the best experience.

Sometimes the role will be tough. You will see and be involved in some difficult patient care, be rushed off your feet, and deliver some very direct personal care.

We have over 10,000 staff across three sites, all working towards the same goal: ensuring our patients receive the best care. You will work with diverse teams, offering opportunities to learn and grow.

This role operates on a shift basis — our patients need care 24/7. You will typically work a four-shift system: early, late, twilight, and nights, including some 12-hour shifts, known as 'long days' or 'long nights'.

If you've always aspired to work for the NHS — caring for patients and collaborating with highly motivated teams — then you will love this role at the Royal Free London.

We understand the importance of work-life balance. We offer 27 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, excellent family leave policies, and a robust pension scheme.

Our flexible working approach includes self-rostering for shift requests and access to a comprehensive wellbeing and benefits package, including discounts with leading high street brands.

We offer extensive career opportunities, whether you wish to pursue further study or thrive in your current role. Learn more about us at: https://www.royalfreelondonjobs.co.uk/
