Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to provide compassionate patient care, assist with daily living, and perform essential observations. The role supports recovery across a busy NHS environment with 24/7 patient care and a 12-hour shift pattern including long days and nights.
The ideal candidate will have Diploma Level 2 or equivalent, complete Care Certificate, and experience in acute hospital settings.
The role of a Healthcare Support Worker is fulfilling, varied and impactful. You will play a vital role in the care of our patients, helping with their day-to-day needs such as personal care, observations, mealtimes, toileting and mobility - as well as performing medical checks such as taking temperatures, pulse and respiration. This care is critical to supporting our patients in their recovery and providing them with the best experience. Sometimes the role will be tough. You will see and be involved in some difficult patient care, be rushed off your feet and deliver some very direct personal care too. We have over 10,000 staff across three different sites, all working towards the same aim which is to ensure our patients receive the very best care. You will work with dozens of different people all performing different roles, so you have the chance to learn so much. As you would expect, we do work on a shift basis - our patients need our care and attention 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so everyone gets involved working different shifts to ensure our patients receive the best care. Typically, you would usually work a four-shift system: early, late, twilight and nights. This role requires some 12-hour day or night shifts, otherwise known as a 'long day' or 'long night'. If you have always aspired to work for the NHS - caring for our patients and working alongside highly motivated teams - then you are going to love this role at the Royal Free London., The detailed duties for this role are described in RFL Band 2 Healthcare Assistant Recruitment Pack document, that is attached to this vacancy. Please ensure to read through to further your understanding of the role.
We need people who are caring, supportive, great at communicating and thrive looking after others. We are looking for somebody who can help us provide the very best care possible to our patients - somebody with an empathetic nature and enthusiastic approach will be perfect in this role.
