Job description

Applications are invited from experienced Healthcare Assistants with specific experience in Acute Mental Health to join the Acute Inpatient team on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.

About the Unit

The Unit is the only Acute Inpatient facility on the island of Guernsey for patients experiencing severe symptoms requiring inpatient care. The Unit aims to provide care in the least restrictive environment, reduce service users' vulnerability to crisis, maximize their resilience, and minimize hospital stay length by facilitating early discharge with active involvement in discharge planning.

Important Notes
  • Staff Accommodation is not available for this role. There is a housing permit and options for private rented accommodation, but applicants should research costs beforehand.
  • Employer sponsorship is not offered. Non-UK or Irish nationals must hold unrestricted, non time-limited leave to remain in the UK.
Salary and Benefits

The Guernsey salary scales are based on NHS AfC banding but are locally applied. The current Band 3 salary range is £29,348 to £34,356, plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements (40% evening/Saturday, 80% Sunday/Bank Holidays). Annual leave ranges from 36 to 42 days, with full credit for NHS service for leave and sick leave.
