Band 3 Administrator - Surgery Research Team

Research Administrator - Band 3 - Surgery Team

Are you looking for a new challenge in a team with a fast-developing portfolio of research?

We are seeking an organized, enthusiastic, and friendly administrator to join the Surgery Research Team.

The role involves supporting a high-performing research team with administrative, financial, and invoice management tasks.

The successful candidate will be proactive, well-organized, and enjoy contributing to a team dedicated to improving patient care through high-quality research in Colorectal, Vascular, and Emergency Surgery.

As part of this friendly team, you will help deliver our research and governance studies and contribute to enhancing patient care.

This position offers opportunities to develop administrative and financial skills through hands-on experience and ongoing training in finance management and research processes.

Main Duties

The post-holder should be competent in managing databases, Excel spreadsheets, and all Microsoft Office programs. Training and support will be provided.

We seek someone with solid administrative skills to support research delivery teams and liaise with external organizations. Effective written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.

Job Responsibilities

The post-holder will have:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous administrative experience, including dealing with the public, prioritizing, and organizing work

Effective communication with staff and patients via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions is crucial.

Main duties include:

  • Providing administrative support: data entry, sending questionnaires to patients
  • Collecting Patient Reported Outcome Measures
  • Managing research documentation and maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting the research team with document preparation, photocopying, and emailing
  • Managing workload independently, consulting with Line Manager when needed
  • Promoting effective communication between research teams and external parties, attending meetings, and maintaining messaging systems
  • Ensuring a safe and secure working environment

Handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

  • BSc in Science, Social Science, Research, or equivalent experience
  • NVQ Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent experience
