Enva in Colwick near Nottingham is seeking a dedicated Baler Operative to safely operate baling equipment and prepare recyclable materials for dispatch. You will monitor performance, maintain quality standards, and work with colleagues to meet production targets while following health, safety and environmental procedures.

• Operate baling machinery safely and efficiently to process recyclable materials.
• Monitor baler performance and report faults or maintenance needs.
• Ensure bales meet weight, density and quality specifications.
• Conduct routine inspections and housekeeping around the baling area.
• Maintain production records and complete paperwork.
• Assist with loading, unloading and movement of materials using approved equipment.
• Follow site procedures, safe systems of work and environmental regulations.

Description

The Baler Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of baling equipment used in the processing of recyclable materials. The role ensures materials are sorted, compacted, stored, and prepared for dispatch in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate baling machinery safely and efficiently to process recyclable materials.
• Monitor baler performance and report any faults, damage, or maintenance requirements.
• Ensure all bales are produced to required specifications, including weight, density, and quality standards.
• Conduct routine inspections and basic housekeeping around the baling area.
• Remove contamination from materials where required to maintain product quality.
• Maintain accurate production records and complete operational paperwork as required.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of materials using authorised equipment.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
• Follow all site procedures, safe systems of work, and environmental regulations.
• Support other operational activities across the site as directed by management.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets and site objectives.
• Report accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and environmental incidents immediately.

• Wear and maintain required PPE at all times.
• Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
