The Role

We are a leading life sciences company specialising in the analysis of metals and commodities. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, we support a wide range of industries through accurate testing and expert analysis. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our laboratory team as a Balance Operator / Weigher.

This is a hands-on role within our laboratory team, focusing on precise weighing and preparation of samples for further analysis. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, safety and teamwork are essential.

About The Position

  • Shift: 6am-2pm and 1:30pm-9:30pm rotational shift
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent position
  • Salary: Competitive, with opportunities for progression

The day to day

  • Preparing and handling samples through careful mixing, blending, and dipping techniques
  • Operating high-precision analytical balances and moisture analysis equipment
  • Interpreting moisture results to support accurate laboratory reporting
  • Replenishing materials and ensuring smooth workflow across the team
  • Organising, storing, and distributing samples with accuracy and care
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment in line with company standards

The Essentials

  • A positive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn
  • Great organisational skills and a methodical approach to tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay focused
  • Confidence with basic maths and English (GCSE level or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is a plus
  • Any previous lab experience (paid or voluntary) is welcomed but not essential
