Job summary

Prior’s Court in the United Kingdom seeks a Bakery Teacher to lead sessions in our on-site bakery, delivering engaging, food-based learning to autistic young people with complex needs. You may be qualified or unqualified, with a passion for teaching and baking, and must have a Food Hygiene qualification.

You will plan, deliver and assess learning within our Learning Framework, collaborate with the Learning Lead, and maintain a safe, supportive environment while building independence and progress

Qualifications

  • Qualified or unqualified teachers welcome; teaching qualification desirable.
  • Experience of teaching autistic children in an education environment or similar.
  • Experience using assessment tools relevant to needs of autistic learners.
  • Knowledge of baking and bakery equipment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Follow long-term planning as agreed with the Learning Lead.
  • Create and adapt short- and medium-term learning plans for groups of learners.
  • Meet regularly with the Learning Lead to feedback and improve outcomes.
  • Use schedules, visual structures and communication systems to support task understanding.
  • Understand and support learning plans for areas of learning.
  • Maintain regular contact with learners' parents and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure environments are functional and learning spaces are safe and supportive.
  • Role model best practice and provide coaching to colleagues.
