Job description

Heritage Portfolio are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Baker to join the team at our Central Production Kitchen in Leith, Edinburgh. This role requires the candidate to assist with all aspects of Bakery operations and production. Training across all areas of production will be provided on the job. We operate within some of Scotland's leading cultural destinations, including Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, V&A Dundee, Mansfield Traquair, the Signet Library and Perth and Musselburgh Racecourses.

Responsibilities
  • To maintain a focus on food allergens and customer information at all times
  • To provide exceptional high standards of food quality to the specifications agreed
  • To assist in all ordering, stock taking and order management in conjunction with our retail sites
  • To assist in planning weekly Bakery production, ensuring all requirements are met
  • Support the Kitchen Manager to ensure that all Health & Safety and Food Safety working practises are carried out at all times
  • Support the wider team to ensure that all Health and Safety legislation is carried out correctly and recorded as necessary. This includes all HACCP, Safegard/EHO visits, Fire Evacuation Procedure, First Aid at Work and safe working practises at all times

With an emphasis on fresh, seasonal, made from scratch cooking, our in-house Bakery is responsible for providing our retail venues across Edinburgh and Dundee with a wide range of traybakes, biscuits, muffins, mini loaves and large decorated cakes, as well as some speciality afternoon tea items. We bake between 5,000-7,000 pieces of cake every week, so the ability to plan and execute production as efficiently as possible is key. The ideal candidate for this role will have a sound knowledge and passion for baking, as well as previous experience working in a similar environment.

  • Be organised and adaptable with the ability to support all aspects within the Bakery
  • Be motivated and excellent at working as part of a team with the ability to multitask and work to specific time frames agreed
  • Be able to follow recipes and specifications to ensure quality as standard as well as bringing new recipes and product development
  • Have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate

Rate Of Pay: £14.50 per hour
