Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking a part-time Baker at Hagley Catholic High School, Stourbridge. You will assist the Cook Manager with baking on site, presenting food attractively and supporting daily kitchen operations.

You will have at least 1 year of hands-on cooking experience, with food hygiene and safety training. The role requires large-scale cooking for 100–1300 students and adherence to health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of hands-on cooking experience, training on Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety will be given.
• Experience cooking at a large scale (100–1300 students).
• Experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting.
• Experience with fresh produce and ingredients.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures is essential.
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a busy kitchen.
• Basic food handling skills certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, present and serve a wide range of baked goods to school standards for a busy secondary school and two feeder schools.
• Adhere to Food Safety, Health & Safety, Allergen awareness, COSHH and HACCP regulations.
• Deliver craft/skills training for catering staff.
• Ensure counters and food are presented to company standards.
• Portion dishes according to business requirements.
• Carry out daily/weekly cleaning duties across kitchen and storage areas.
• Deliver high standards of customer service, cleanliness and efficiency.

Job introduction

As a Baker for Sodexo at Hagley Catholic High School,Brake Lane, Hagley, Stourbridge DY8 2XL you will assist the Cook Manager to oversee all aspects of the food and beverage operations as well as producing all the baked goods on site. You will support the Cook Manager in ensuring you showcase what the kitchen supplies, presenting it in the most eye-catching way possible, ensuring we are offering the best service possible. As well as this, you will not work unsociable hours and you will get public holidays off… including Christmas!

What you do:

• Prepare, cook, present, and serve a wide range of baked goods, including cakes and breads, to company standards for a busy secondary school and two feeder schools. This may include breakfast, morning break, lunch, and hospitality events.
• You will adhere to all company compliance (such as Food safety, Health and Safety, Allergen awareness, COSHH and HACCP regulations).
• To carry out craft/ skills training for catering staff.
• To ensure that all service counters and food is presented to company standards.
• To guarantee that each dish served is portioned according to business requirements.
• To complete daily/ weekly cleaning duties as instructed by the line manager and this includes all food preparation and storage areas, all catering communal areas. Removal of waste from catering area.
• Deliver exceptionally high standards in customer service, cleanliness, tidiness, and other operational activity.

What you bring:

• A minimum of 1 years of experience in hands on cooking, training on Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety will be given.
• Must have expertise on cooking on a large scale, anywhere between 100 – 1300 students.
• Have experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting.
• Have experience working with fresh produce and ingredients.
• Be aware of the importance of adhering to health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy Kitchen environment.
• Be professional, leading by example and having a positive outlook is key.
• Hold basic food handling skills certification

• Term Time only (39 week Working Contract paid over 52 weeks)**
