Band 5 Mortuary Technician – Locum – Liverpool

Band: 5
Position: Mortuary Technician
Placement Duration: Ongoing
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:30
Rate: £18 – £26 per hour
Location: Liverpool

Job Purpose:
We are seeking a dedicated Mortuary Technician to join our team. The role involves providing safe and practical assistance to histopathologists in the postmortem room, ensuring the mortuary is maintained in a clean and efficient manner, and adhering to all legal and health regulations pertaining to deceased individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist histopathologists in postmortem examinations, including evisceration, dissection, and organ weighing.
• Maintain mortuary hygiene standards and implement disinfection protocols.
• Handle and document postmortem specimens with precision and care.
• Liaise with external agencies such as funeral directors to ensure smooth collection procedures.
• Provide support during forensic postmortems and perinatal examinations.
• Train and supervise subordinate personnel in mortuary procedures and safety protocols.

Requirements:
• Good communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with bereaved families.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
• Knowledge of health and safety protocols in handling deceased individuals.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Emotional resilience and maturity to handle sensitive situations.
• Must be a qualified Anatomical Pathology Technician with a Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology.
