Job summary

LA International is seeking a senior Backup Engineer to join the Managed Service & Project team. The role covers backup support for Live, Development and Test environments, plus migration projects and some out-of-hours work.

You will work with Veritas NetBackup and VMware in Windows, Linux (RHEL & SLES), AIX and Solaris environments, requiring strong troubleshooting and ITIL-aligned change management mindset.

Qualifications

• At least 5–10 years' experience in 2nd–3rd line backups of servers and virtual payloads.
• Strong knowledge of backup and restore technologies.
• Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework, including incident and change management.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd–3rd line backup support across Live, Development and Test environments.
• Lead migration and transformation projects, including out-of-hours work as required.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure reliable backup, restore and change management processes.

Backup Engineer

Location: Work from home / Telford

Duration: 6 months initially

This senior-level role sits within a Backup team responsible for the provision of Managed Service & Project activities.

The team provides support to the Backup solutions on the Live, Development & Test environments as well as performing all Change & Project work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Backup technologies including Veritas NetBackup. In addition there will be a considerable amount of migration / transformation Project work, some of which may be out of hours.

• At least 5-10 years' experience of supporting (2nd to 3rd Line) backups of servers and virtual payloads.
• Good knowledge of backup and restore technologies.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication.
• Have a proven problem solving ability.
• Proactive approach to personal workload management.
• Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework and specifically incident and change management.
• Use and support of Veritas NetBackup software and storage appliances.
• Use and support of backups in a VMWare environment.
• General knowledge of supporting backups on various server operating systems - Windows, Linux (RHEL & SLES), AIX and Solaris
