Job summary

Lloyds in London is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to develop secure Golang microservices powering financial products and services. You will collaborate with product, engineering and business stakeholders to drive architecture, design and scalable solutions.

You will contribute to building a connected platform, enabling data-driven insights and seamless integrations while maintaining high performance and reliability in a cloud-enabled, agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience building concurrent, distributed applications at scale.
  • Strong commercial experience developing backend applications in Golang.
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience building and supporting microservices architectures.
  • Experience working within agile development environments.
  • Experience deploying and operating applications in containerised environments, ideally Kubernetes.
  • A passion for learning, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality software.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across the application stack, including network, server and database layers.
  • Experience working with DevOps or SRE teams to support production environments.
  • Experience with PHP.
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or other messaging technologies.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures.
  • Experience of real-time, low-latency transaction-based systems.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Docker and CI/CD practices.
  • Exposure to data platforms, ETL processes or machine learning-enabled products.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of other engineers.
  • Previous experience within fintech, payments or a fast-paced startup environment.

Job description

  • As a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll build elegant, performant, maintainable, operable and secure Golang microservices that power innovative financial products and services
  • You’ll collaborate closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions, contribute to system design and architecture, champion engineering best practice, and help continuously improve development processes
  • You’ll play a key role in building a connected platform, developing data-driven financial insights, enabling integrations with leading applications and services, and supporting the delivery of scalable, resilient systems that help customers better manage their money
