Job summary

LaraBench is seeking a Backend Developer focused on PHP and Laravel to join our Leeds-based team and work across diverse client projects. The role offers hybrid working: three days on site with two remote days, and opportunities to drive architecture and CMS-driven development.

You'll collaborate with designers, PMs and frontend developers to deliver scalable, secure backend solutions, with room for ownership for mid- to senior-level applicants.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience backend development with PHP
• Solid knowledge of Laravel and modern PHP practices
• Experience with CMS architectures like Craft CMS or WordPress
• Ability to model content structures and bespoke site functionality
• Translate designs and requirements into backend systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using PHP and Laravel
• Support CMS-driven websites and bespoke features
• Design content models and CMS architectures for client ease of use
• Integrate backend with frontend and third-party services
• Collaborate with frontend, UX/UI and PMs throughout the lifecycle
• Contribute to project estimates and technical specifications
• Deliver maintainable code on schedule
• Assist with site enhancements and client retainers
• Troubleshoot performance, security and reliability
• Mentor junior developers for senior projects
