Job summary

Octopus Electroverse in the United Kingdom is hiring a backend software engineer to join one of our squads. You will develop core services that power our global EV charging platform, working with the product manager and engineers to deliver robust backend capabilities.

The role emphasizes observability, scalable design, and API work (REST, GraphQL, Django). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to OCPI integrations and third-party API connections as we expand

Qualifications

• 2+ years commercial Python experience required.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD.
• Experience with API development (REST, GraphQL) and Django.
• Experience working on B2B product features.
• Experience with OCPI and third-party API integrations.
• Strong understanding of databases and data architecture.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to write robust and fault-tolerant software.
• Cross-functional collaboration to propose scalable technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Enable quick but robust development using observability, data analysis and defensive programming to safely scale products and CPO integrations globally.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to break down problems and propose scalable technical solutions.
• Demonstrate passion for climate tech and readiness to learn in a scaling business.
• Collaborate with product manager and engineers to deliver backend features for end users.
• Write robust, fault-tolerant software and maintainable APIs.
• Contribute with Git and CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth releases.
• Ensure strong database and data-architecture considerations in services.
• Develop APIs (REST, GraphQL) and work with Django web framework.
• Focus on OCPI integrations and third-party API connections.
• Contribute to building B2B product features.
