Job summary

Homesearch is hiring a backend engineer to work across HAILO, Homesearch Pro, and app integrations. You’ll build APIs, optimize data processing, and ensure secure, scalable services in a Laravel-based Laravel/MySQL stack. The role emphasizes collaboration, code reviews, and proactive product involvement.

Hybrid work with London Victoria office, iterative delivery, and a focus on performance, security, and clean architecture. AI coding tools are encouraged as part of the workflow.

Qualifications

• Proven PHP and Laravel experience with strong SQL and indexing
• REST/JSON API development experience
• AWS experience, especially API Gateway, ECS and containers
• CI/CD workflows with Bitbucket or GitHub
• Broad system experience across diverse architectures including data and e‑commerce flows
• Active use of AI coding tools (Claude, Copilot, Codex) with accountability
• Strong collaboration and openness to code reviews and ambiguity

Responsibilities

• Build and extend APIs and backend services in Laravel
• Optimize property data processing as products scale
• Maintain security, performance and code quality via reviews
• Shape code structure and CI/CD pipelines across Bitbucket and GitHub
• Explain trade-offs to product and leadership in plain language
• Collaborate with product early before specs are settled
• Work across multiple products (HAILO, Homesearch Pro, app integrations)
• Utilize AI tools to speed up development when appropriate
