Job summary

Benifex Limited is seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to own core services powering the Home, content creation, and navigation experiences. You’ll design robust, API-driven backend services, collaborate across teams, and shape the platform architecture with a strong emphasis on clean APIs and data modeling.

Stack includes Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, MongoDB, Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP. UK or Ireland-based applicants only; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Experience building high-performance backend systems with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
• Practical experience with messaging systems (e.g., Google Cloud Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ).
• Experience with NoSQL databases, ideally MongoDB Atlas.
• Comfortable working with production services in cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality REST APIs and backend services.
• Implement and evolve event-driven workflows using Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
• Improve performance, reliability, and observability of services (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting).
• Influence future architecture, data contracts, and event schemas with the team.
• Contribute to engineering standards, testing strategy, and CI/CD improvements.
• Collaborate with product teams to establish API contracts and features.
