Job description

We're a fitness technology company working at the cutting edge of VR and MR, building a movement for movement. Our mission is to redefine fitness and prove that exercise can be fun and for everyone. We believe in a future where exercise is everywhere.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to bridge the gap between DevOps and our backend team. You'll need to be strong in both cloud infra and backend (C# .NET) development and excited to up-skill others. You'll focus on DevOps work but stay hands-on in the codebase building and and architecting new features as part of our backend engineering team. When things go wrong, you'll lead the detective effort to understand the root cause and fix underlying problems so they don't reoccur in future.

The current FitXR experience in VR is just the beginning - we'll continue to disrupt fitness across new platforms and experiences and you'll play a big role in enabling innovation.

What you'll do

  • Spend around 70% of your time in DevOps and 30% in development
  • Take ownership of and evolve our AWS-hosted infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines - prioritising scalability, reliability and automation
  • Support and unblock backend teams by embedding deeply in development cycles
  • Build tooling and automation that improves developer experience and platform reliability
  • Champion pragmatic safety - implementing guardrails without stifling speed or creativity
Our tech stack
  • C# Backend (.NET Core)
  • AWS (S3, DynamoDB, RDS SQS, SNS and CloudFormation)
  • Linux, Docker and Kubernetes (running on EKS)
  • React & Unity Frontend
  • Github
  • Datadog
You should apply if
  • Our mission resonates with you
  • You've managed cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code before
  • You're comfortable writing C# backend code
  • You've worked in small teams or startups with a strong emphasis on ownership
  • You're collaborative, pragmatic, and deeply care about product quality
  • You value autonomy and want to make a real impact - not just keep the lights on
  • You're a fan of fully remote work
  • You're excited by the potential GenAI has to make great engineers even greater. We provide everyone with a budget to use and experiment with AI tools
You shouldn't apply if
  • You believe DevOps operates best in a silo away from the development team
  • You'd rather fix things manually for the fifth time than script it once
  • Autonomy makes you uncomfortable - we move fast and trust each other to do great work
Our mission is to make fitness fun and accessible for everyone. To build inclusive products, we need to build an inclusive team. Please know that this list is indicative and that we would still love to hear from you even if you feel you only are a 75% match. We promote a diverse and inclusive culture at FitXR.

Logistics

The application and interview process looks like this:
  1. Apply with your CV
  2. Interview with the talent team
