Octopus Energy is hiring a Backend Engineer to join our Global Backend Team in London. You’ll build scalable services using Python, Django, GraphQL, and robust domain models that ships fast across the world.

We value pragmatic engineers who write reliable async code, work across teams, and can thrive in a fast-moving, open culture. Remote UK candidates are welcome, with some office presence preferred in London.

Formación

• Proficient in Python and Django web frameworks.
• Strong domain-driven design and modelling experience.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs.
• Ability to write robust, fault-tolerant software.
• Experience with asynchronous task processing (Celery).
• Familiar with PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes is a plus.

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Global Backend Team.

The Global Backend Team are the powerhouse behind our mission to build the future of energy tech, working on our new and rapidly growing backend retail codebase used by all Octopus Energy engineering teams around the world.

What you'll have

We're looking for someone with a general interest in technology and problem-solving; someone diligent and thoughtful. It would be helpful to have experience/expertise in the following (in rough priority order):

• Python
• Django (or equiv. web framework)
• Domain modelling
• GraphQL
• Writing robust and fault-tolerant software
• Celery and async processing
• Postgres

Plus experience in the following would be a bonus:

• AWS
• Kubernetes

We would prefer someone who can work in our London office but will consider remote candidates. However, you do need to be able to work in the UK.
