Stratospherec Ltd in the UK seeks a Backend Developer / Data Engineer to build robust backend services and database functionality for a SaaS platform. The role focuses on Microsoft techs (SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures) with C# and .Net, delivering scalable enterprise applications in an in-office Bristol setting.

You will design databases, optimise queries, and maintain API services while ensuring data integrity and performance.

Backend Developer / Data Engineer

Business Systems Software Company

Full time in-office in Bristol City Centre - Up to 50k

Our client are a global SaaS Business Software platform provider that leverages innovation and automation to help their clients spend more time developing their businesses and less time just managing them.

They are looking for a Back End Developer or Data Engineer with a strong Microsoft technologies background (T-SQL, Stored Procedures, SQL Server 2019 or 2022 and possibly with SQL Azure knowledge) plus some skills in C# and .Net to build back end applications and database fuctionality for the next generation of their SaaS platform used by global clients on Enterprise sized system applications.

Their company are trusted for the development of staff and HR functions for corporate companies in the Hospitality, Retail, Entertainment, FMGC, Construction and Public Sector industries.

The role is office-based Monday to Friday, with some flexible working as required.

This company will also consider good Back End Developers with a full UK work visa (not needing any current form work visa sponsorship) who are happy to relocate and work in-office in Central Bristol.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop robust and maintainable backend services and application logic using C#
• Develop and maintain web APls
• Design, develop and maintain SQL Server databases
• Develop and optimise stored procedures, functions and queries
• Analyse query and database performance and implement improvements through query optimisation, indexing and schema refinement.
• Ensure changes protect data integrity, reliability and application
• Maintain appropriate documentation of important data structures, logic and dependencies
• Contribute to the ongoing modernisation and improvement of the SaaS platform

Experience and person profile

• Strong experience developing and supporting production web applications.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, particularly across backend applications and databases.
• A strong understanding of relational database design and SQL Server.
• The ability to understand complex systems and confidently investigate how application and database components interact.
• A pragmatic approach to development, balancing technical quality with business and customer requirements.
• Strong awareness of application performance, scalability, security and data integrity.
• The ability to work independently on complex technical problems while collaborating effectively with the wider team.
• Good time-management skills and the ability to contribute effectively towards sprint and delivery goals.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
