About the Role

The Business Assurance & Controls Lead – Compliance role is a pivotal position within the Business Assurance & Controls team, designed to mature the Compliance agenda within the Customer Service Operations (CSO) portfolio. This role involves close collaboration with relevant stakeholder groups, Risk & Compliance SMEs and business stakeholders within CSO and from other areas within ANZ, alongside existing Compliance SME’s in the team.

What will your day look like?

As a Business Assurance & Controls Lead – Compliance, your accountabilities include :

  • Offer expert compliance advice and support to CSO businesses in relation to events and operational processes.
  • Central contact point for event escalations and the Retail Division significant breach reporting team : Act as the primary contact for CSO regarding event escalations, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Serve as a key representative and contact point for the event management uplift program of work, driving improvements and efficiencies where needed.
  • Lead CSO’s obligations management and be a key contact point for internal and external regulatory reporting requests directed through the business.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the regulatory environment and where required, assist in change and project work to operationalise regulatory changes effectively.
  • Build Compliance Risk Management capability across the business, portfolio, and within the peer group.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance with relevant obligations in operational processes.
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting requests, including appropriate written responses and justifications where requested.
  • Assist as required with to develop and deliver a Compliance risk management capability uplift program, ensuring a sound understanding of relevant obligations.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following :

  • Extensive years of Compliance / Regulatory Change Management risk experience.
  • Ability to motivate team members to view risk as part of everyone’s role and adapt to risk management in an autonomous working environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective operational risk management solutions, including identifying key risks, risk causes, mitigants, controls, and treatments.
  • Strong analytical skills to synthesize external and internal emerging risks, including legislative changes and regulatory sentiment.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and innovate to deliver better customer outcomes while satisfying operational risk requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build relationships and influence effectively.
  • Partner with operational areas to understand the business context and provide specialist guidance and support to create effective control environments.
  • Participate in and provide specialist advice on Business Unit and targeted Compliance Assessments / Reviews, identifying risk metrics and insights for relevant Risk Forums and reporting.
