Overview

Our Community Mental Health Recovery Services: Runnymede and Spelthorne are secondary Mental Health Teams who provide assessments for evidence based, time limited treatment and psychological interventions for adults with severe and enduring mental health issues. The focus of our whole service is promoting recovery and independence and developing self-management strategies to encourage people to achieve their potential in the community. We are a multidisciplinary team who provide advice and support for GPs and work with individuals and their carers and can refer or signpost to a number of statutory, independent and voluntary sector agencies. We seek to work closely with individuals and their families as well as other organisations where consent has been given.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessments for evidence based, time limited treatment and psychological interventions for adults with severe and enduring mental health issues.
• Promote recovery and independence and develop self-management strategies to help people achieve their potential in the community.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to advise and support GPs and to work with individuals and their carers, referring or signposting to statutory, independent and voluntary sector agencies with consent.
• Develop and maintain professional supportive relationships with all staff, other professionals and agencies to enhance recovery.
• Ensure provision of necessary physical care, including personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, clothing and laundry, personal environment, manual handling, elimination, maintaining rest and sleep and activity, and physical observations.
• Respect the customs, individuality, values, sexuality and spiritual beliefs of individuals and actively support them to fulfil these.
• Provide therapeutic activities, emotional support and stability to clients and maintain professional boundaries.
• Ensure prescribed physical observations are undertaken (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood sugars, urinalysis, weight and height) and act upon exceptions appropriately.
• Drive to community-based work as required, subject to reasonable adjustments for any disability; candidates must possess a valid driving licence and have unrestricted use of a car or motorcycle for work.
