Job summary

Band 5 Physiotherapists provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment and treatment to patients with a range of physical conditions, supporting their recovery and aiming to improve mobility and function. They work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering individualized care plans and promoting health and wellbeing. The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical records, contributing to service development, and engaging in ongoing professional learning.

Rotational post across RDaSH including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Home First Services and Neuro Services.

Rotations will last 6 months each.

Main duties of the job
Clinical
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and deliver evidence-based physiotherapy treatments for diverse conditions.
  • Plan, implement, and adapt interventions collaboratively with patients to ensure effectiveness and progress.
  • Provide person-centred care and rehabilitation across various settings.
  • Work autonomously, managing and prioritising own caseload efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, timely rehabilitation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and professionals, using empathy and clarity.
  • Refer to other professionals/agencies as appropriate and act as a patient advocate.
  • Maintain dignity, privacy, and holistic well-being for patients and carers.
  • Participate in weekend rota when required.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Member of Charted Society of Physiotherapy or similar
  • Appropriate experience as a student or qualified physiotherapist.
  • Student placements or experience in a range of core areas.
  • Evidence of community and inpatient working.
  • Experience of working with patients who have fallen and in the care of older adults.
  • Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the roles of others in providing patient care and ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Evidence of relevant CPD. An understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
  • Understanding of professional conduct and confidentiality.
  • Experience of working with/supervising junior / support staff.
  • Experience of NHS working
  • Experience of working within a respiratory service.
  • Awareness of relevant clinical guidelines and legislation and their application in practice e.g. Older Adults, Falls and Respiratory.
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge of a broad range of diagnoses and conditions in line with areas of the post.
  • Demonstrable knowledge HCPC standard of practice and of professional registration requirements.
  • Understanding of information governance and of the processes for sharing patient information across agencies.
  • Understanding of the issues pertaining to clinical risk management, and ability for formulate plans to reduce risk.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Well developed theoretical knowledge underpinning physiotherapy practice.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate within difficult circumstances and demonstrate empathetic approach to patients.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), analytical, problem solving skills and clinical reasoning.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly to a variety of professionals and to patients and their families, overcoming barriers to communication.
  • Demonstrable skills in clinical reasoning and problem solving for case management.
