Role Overview

The Occupational Therapist will work within a community adult mental health service, providing specialist assessments and treatments to service users with various mental health conditions.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing a diverse caseload and working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including CPNs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Employment Specialists, and Non-Medical Prescribers.
  2. Utilising trust-wide Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) assessments, with support and training provided.
  3. Participating in service development and quality improvement projects, developing OT pathways, building community links, and supporting service growth initiatives.
  4. Contributing to the wider Occupational Therapy community through CPD events, practice development, and workforce development.
  5. Involving in staff recruitment and support staff development.

  • Provision of specialist OT clinical advice on assessment and intervention of clients' occupational and functional needs.
  • Managing caseloads using evidence-based, client-centred recovery principles.
  • Assessing and prescribing assistive equipment as needed.
  • Developing partnerships with external agencies like CCGs, voluntary sector, social care, education, and employment services.
  • Designing and facilitating recovery-focused group work in collaboration with partners.
  • Supervising and supporting fellow OT team members.
  • Receiving regular supervision from your manager and OT Lead.
  • Supporting student placements and newly qualified OTs through preceptorship programs.
  • Supporting our IPS 'Work Your Way' service with embedded Employment Specialists.
  • Involvement in trust-wide OT service development and innovation.
