Job summary

Bombardier’s Biggin Hill Service Centre seeks a B1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer to lead Base and Line maintenance tasks for business jets. The role requires ensuring airworthiness, coordinating crews, and releasing aircraft with the Certificate of Release to Service.

You'll work at the London-area facility, interacting with maintenance teams and ensuring tasks comply with Bombardier MOPs and safety standards. Relevant license and recent experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License: B1/B2 and C.
• Basic knowledge of Appendix I to Part-66.
• Basic knowledge of Part-M and Part-145 regulations.
• At least 6 months of relevant aircraft or component maintenance experience within any 2-year period.
• Experience with Bombardier aircraft is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify constraints and pro-actively prepare maintenance projects (e.g. organizing workstations).
• Verify if Mechanics and B1/B2 Support Staff assigned are qualified to perform the task(s).
• Ensure Cat C tasks are delegated appropriately when needed.
• Prioritize work and coordinate daily work plan to the crew.
• Ensure tasks are airworthy and report any deferrals to the operator.
• Provide time estimates and monitor efficiency, coordinating overtime with the Project Manager.
• Ensure crew maintains good housekeeping and proper handovers at shift end.
• Release aircraft after base maintenance by signing the Certificate of Release to Service.

Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier’s European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. Only 14 miles from London, Bombardier’s Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally located to support operators in the UK region and beyond.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Identify constraints and pro-actively prepare maintenance projects (e.g. organizing workstations)
• Verify if Mechanics and B1/B2 Support Staff assigned (‘crew’) are qualified to perform the task(s)
• Ensure Cat C tasks are delegated to other Cat C or senior B1/B2 when not available - delegating duties does not relieve the Cat C of the overall responsibility for the crew
• Understand that when also carrying out maintenance tasks, such tasks should not be undertaken when incompatible with the project-management responsibilities
• Prioritize work, and coordinate/assign daily work plan to the crew
• Ensure performed tasks are in accordance with Bombardiers Maintenance Organization Procedures
• Ensure that all required maintenance tasks are carried out, that all work accomplished is airworthy and, where not completed, that deferrals will be reported to the operator
• Provide time estimates and monitor efficiency to ensure that scheduled man-hours are not exceeded, and coordinate overtime requirements with the Project Manager
• Ensure crew maintains good housekeeping practices
• Ensure all task-handovers are done at the end of the shift, as well as the shift-handover
• Release aircraft and authorized, by signing the Certificate of Release to Service after base maintenance

How to thrive in this role?

• You have an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License: B1 / B2 and C
• You have basic knowledge requirements of Appendix I to Part-66
• You have basic knowledge of Part-M, Part-145 and any other relevant regulations
• You have at least 6 months of relevant aircraft or component maintenance experience in any consecutive 2-year period
• You have experience working with our aircrafts, but will consider other Business Aircraft makes as well
• You have knowledge on, and practicing of, human factors, human performance and limitations
• You have knowledge on EWIS and CDCCL when relevant
• You have experience working during last two years on at least one aircraft type for each license (sub)category
• You are current on all training requirements (recurrent/continuation training)
• You have the ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings
• You have the ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual task and / or aircraft status
• You have the ability to use standard tools, special tools and operate ground support equipment
• You have the ability to work in accordance with the maintenance data and to notify the function responsible of defects or mistakes requiring rectification to re-establish required maintenance standards
• You have the ability to use information systems (computer skills)
• You have experience on business jet aircraft
