About Our Team

Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub. AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in‑house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications. AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its No.1 Helicopter Flying School (MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Job Description

This is a certifying role reporting to the Installation and Production Manager. The successful candidate should embody modifications and carry out maintenance to helicopters whilst being customised within the Installations department, ensuring that work is carried out IAW approved data and releasing the helicopter back to service in a safe and airworthy condition.

Main Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the supervisory team to ensure delegated all projects receive the correct support to achieve project completion on time and on budget.
  • Acting as a crew chief and be able to delegate tasks to those within the team.
  • Ensuring compliance with the appropriate data and where necessary over sign the work that you have been delegated.
  • Embody modifications to customers' helicopters.
  • Carry out the embodiment of prototype and series modifications in accordance with released and approved data from Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd or from third party STC holders.
  • Maintain standards required by Part 145 and Part 21G scope of approvals.
  • Be able to liaise with the project management and design office teams.
  • Maintain good levels of communication within the installations team.
  • Ensure that good practices of H&S are maintained and that appropriate PPE for each task are being used.
  • Uphold and enforce the hangar rules.
Knowledge and Skills – Essential
  • Recent aviation experience.
  • Experience of leading a small team.
  • Knowledge of Part 145 and Part CAMO approvals.
  • Knowledge of CAA Part 21G Production an advantage.
  • Knowledge of creating Form 1’s.
  • Ability to accurately interpret detailed mechanical drawings and associated data.
  • Have recent experience of sheet metal manufacturing techniques.
  • Recent experience of on and off aircraft riveting techniques.
  • Knowledge of the use of specialist test equipment related to main and tail rotor vibration analysis.
  • Ability to use Google Office, SAP and MS products.
Education, Qualifications or Training – Essential
  • Completed a formal aviation apprenticeship.
  • Hold a CAA Part 66 B1.3 license.
  • Type ratings for the following an advantage: H125 (AS350), H130, H135 (EC135), H145 (BK117).
  • Initial Human Factors training.

  • Well organized and methodical – paying attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
  • Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and SC clearance.
  • Applicants must meet any/all requirements of Export Compliance Regulations.

  • Shift working as part of a normal working pattern.
