Job summary

DEA Specialised Airborne Operations is seeking a B1.1 Engineer on a permanent basis to supervise and certify maintenance activities under the Shift Supervisor and BMM. You will ensure safety, regulatory compliance and aircraft documentation, while supporting planning, resources and continuous improvement.

The role requires a strong engineering background, ability to lead a team, and willingness to obtain security clearance to meet UK/ITAR requirements.

Qualifications

  • B1.1 Engineer with Part-145 maintenance responsibility.
  • Ability to ensure safety, regulatory compliance and operational performance.
  • Experience providing engineering guidance and team development.
  • Proactive safety culture and reporting of occurrences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shift Supervisor and be responsible to the BMM for safety, regulatory compliance, and performance of maintenance activities.
  • Provide engineering decisions and guidance for personal and team development.
  • Promote a Just Culture for safety and reporting.
  • Maintain aircraft and equipment as allocated by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Certify B1 maintenance activities performed during shifts.
  • Ensure aircraft documentation is completed timely and accurately.
  • Support planning and resources to maintenance inputs.
  • Oversee AOG support and ground movements as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of mechanical engineering functions.
  • Work within DEA B/C-Rated workshops as certifier (Wheel & Engine Bay).
  • Assist with task prioritisation and team development.

Job description

DEA are looking for a B1.1 Engineer on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Shift Supervisor in being responsible to the BMM, for the safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance of all Part-145 aircraft maintenance activities within the aircraft maintenance team.
  • Provide support to the team with engineering decisions and provide guidance with regards to personal, and team development.
  • Promote a "Just Culture" with regard to safety and reporting of occurrences within the business
  • To be particularly responsible for the maintenance of aircraft, aircraft equipment as allocated by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Certification of B1 maintenance activities performed during shift operations.
  • Where held and required C Certification of aircraft released from base maintenance activity.
  • Ensure a high standard of mechanical engineering functions.
  • Assist the Planning Manager to ensure all resources, parts and equipment are available at maintenance inputs.
  • Ensure recency of all company and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide the Mechanical Handover
  • The ground movements of aircraft assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Ensuring that all technical staff working within your supervision carry out their duties in a safe and proper manner and in accordance with the relevant Maintenance Manuals, and MOE.
  • To ensure the correct and timely completion of all aircraft documentation relating to the maintenance activities performed.
  • Ensure areas under supervision are always kept clean and tidy.
  • Evaluate all existing standards, practices, and procedures with a view to continuous improvement efficiency
  • Ensure error and safety reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist the Shift Supervisor in the day-to-day functions of the team.
  • Assisting the Shift Supervisor in prioritising tasks and scheduling requirements
  • Assisting the Shift Supervisor in the development of the team
  • Achieve optimal aircraft maintenance performance; maintain excellent customer and stakeholder relations
  • Work at component level within DEA B/C-Rated workshops as a certifier (Wheel & Engine Bay)
  • AOG
  • Provide AOG technical support to company and 3rd party aircraft and give general technical support to aircraft operators and owners.
  • Hold a position on an AOG rota, supporting DEA and 3rd party aircraft in UK and overseas.

  • Other meetings as requested in the Mech Manager’s absence
