Job summary

A leading Azure Expert Managed Service Provider is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join their team for an on-prem to Azure migration project. The role involves managing SQL environments and taking ownership of performance optimization. This hybrid position (3 days onsite in Leicester) offers a competitive day rate of up to £500, depending on experience. Suitable candidates will have a strong background in SQL Server and Azure along with proven experience in cloud migration.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator, ideally in consultancies or MSPs.
• Solid hands-on skills in SQL Server (2016+) and Azure SQL.
• Experience with end-to-end cloud migration delivery.

A leading Azure Expert MSP, is delivering an on-prem to Azure SQL migration project for one of their flagship customers.

They’re looking for a confident, hands-on DBA to join the delivery team and take ownership of key workloads during this transformation.

? What You'll Be Doing:

• Managing and optimising on-prem SQL Server environments
• Leading and supporting Azure SQL migrations (PaaS & IaaS)
• Implementing performance tuning strategies across workloads
• Ensuring security, data protection, and compliance alignment
• Collaborating with project managers, infrastructure teams, and developers to ensure smooth delivery
• Acting as a customer-facing consultant across migration phases

What You’ll Need:

• Solid commercial experience as a SQL DBA (ideally within consultancies or MSPs)
• Strong hands-on skills in SQL Server (2016+) and Azure SQL
• A track record of end-to-end cloud migration delivery
• Understanding of data security, backup strategies, and best practices
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with stakeholders
