Job summary

Swift Analytics is seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect for a remote-first role delivering a greenfield Azure SQL Data Warehouse programme for a public sector client.

You will lead architecture across the full delivery lifecycle, mentor engineering teams and work closely with stakeholders to ensure scalable, secure and maintainable solutions following Microsoft best practices.

About the Assignment

Swift Analytics is seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect to support lead the delivery of a greenfield Azure SQL Data Warehouse programme. This is a hands-on architecture role where you will contribute across the full delivery lifecycle, from validating and refining solution designs through to supporting implementation and mentoring engineering teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, maintainable and aligned with Microsoft best practices. You will work closely with stakeholders, technical teams and delivery partners while remaining actively involved in development and technical decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of a modern Azure-based data warehouse platform.
• Validation and refinement of existing High-Level Designs (HLDs).
• Collaborate on detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
• Define architecture standards, design principles and technical roadmaps.
• Work closely with Data Engineers to deliver production-ready solutions.
• Participate in hands-on development activities where required.
• Peer review solutions, code and technical deliverables.
• Lead technical decision-making and provide architectural guidance throughout delivery.
• Engage with stakeholders to gather, interpret and refine requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure solutions align with business objectives.
• Promote best practices across data engineering, governance, security and DevOps.
• Support deployment and release processes through Azure DevOps.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic, hands-on architect who enjoys solving complex data challenges while remaining close to delivery. You will be technically credible, commercially aware and comfortable engaging with stakeholders whilst providing leadership to engineering teams. • Proven experience as a Data Architect delivering Azure-based data platforms.
• Strong experience designing enterprise-scale data warehouse and analytics solutions.
• Extensive experience with Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Power BI and Azure DevOps
• Demonstrable experience delivering greenfield data platform implementations.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and data warehouse design principles.
• Experience implementing scalable, secure and maintainable cloud architectures.
• Experience establishing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering skills.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Security and access control design within Azure.
• Consultancy or professional services experience.
• Experience within public sector or regulated environments.
• Current or previous UK Security Clearance (SC), or the ability to obtain security clearance.
