Job summary

Metrica Recruitment is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer to design, build, and govern scalable Azure PaaS platforms. You will mentor engineers, shape the platform, and partner with security, architecture, and operations to raise reliability and performance.

Lead cloud-native development, implement IaC with Bicep/ARM, manage CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, and ensure robust networking, identity, and policies across environments. Hybrid, UK-based team.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in architecting and delivering Azure PaaS solutions.
• Deep knowledge of Azure services including App Services, Functions, API Management, CosmosDB and Azure SQL.
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Bicep, ARM).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps).
• Scripting with PowerShell and Azure CLI.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, RBAC, and Azure Policies.
• Networking in Azure (VNETs, private endpoints, NSGs, VNET peering).
• Demonstrated leadership in cloud engineering initiatives.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert and/or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable Azure PaaS architectures (App Services, Functions, API Management, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL).
• Advise engineering teams on cloud adoption, DevOps, and IaC best practices.
• Drive automation using ARM/Bicep for provisioning and configuration.
• Define governance, security, and compliance controls for Azure PaaS environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, security, service management, and architecture.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing across teams.
