Job summary

Credera’s Newcastle Delivery Centre is seeking a senior Azure DevOps Engineer to join our technology practice and lead significant portions of client platforms. You will work with architects, support engineers, and delivery leaders to drive reliable pipelines and cloud automation.

You will collaborate on Azure deployments (PaaS/IaaS), apply IaC practices, and mentor peers while maintaining a strong focus on security and production reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building and maintaining production-grade CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services (PaaS/IaaS) and related tooling.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM).

Requirements

As a senior Azure DevOps Engineer in Credera’s Delivery Centre capability, you’ll work as part of a close‑knit team supporting one of our long‑term client partnerships alongside architects, support engineers, and delivery leaders. You’ll be one of the more experienced engineers in that team – leading significant areas of the platform and acting as the go‑to person for your domain. Building on Credera’s reputation for engineering excellence, you’ll have a chance to learn from a team of experts who can help you develop into a future technical leader. Consultancy to us is about customer delivery first, carried out by technically excellent people with a learning mindset. Whilst working on a long‑term engagement, you will have access to a range of training and development opportunities, as well as coaching and mentoring from experienced technologists. You are perceptive, personable, culturally sensitive and demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence. To meet our client’s needs, you will need to be security clearable.

• Demonstrable experience in automating operations tasks with one or more scripting languages
• Experience with configuration tools such as GitHub/Azure Repos/Jenkins
• Experience creating and/or maintaining production software delivery pipelines using common CI/CD tools
• Experience working with Azure, across both PaaS and IaaS hosting models – Azure is the platform for this role and experience of other public clouds is not required
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Bicep, ARM)
• The ability to lead a significant area of work to agreed time and quality with minimal direction, breaking it down and delivering it through a small team as well as with your own hands, escalating blockers promptly while proposing practical solutions
• A structured, methodical approach to identifying and resolving delivery issues, comfortable with ambiguity and digging for root causes, seeking guidance where needed
• Confidence working directly with client stakeholders – socialising ideas, presenting well‑reasoned options, and representing Credera professionally
• Associate‑level Azure certification (e.g. AZ‑104), with progression towards expert‑level certification (e.g. AZ‑400)
• Established technical expertise in your domain, with code and pull request reviews that colleagues value, and a willingness to mentor more junior colleagues and implement agreed improvements
• Experience using AI or Agentic techniques and willingness to adopt the use of these tools quickly
• You will be required to hold active SC clearance for this role.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with configuration management tooling (e.g. Ansible).
• Experience migrating or re‑hosting existing workloads into Azure, including networking and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience supporting and operating production systems.
• Exposure to containerisation and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to AI/ML services on Azure, or hands‑on use of AI and agentic tools in production environments.
