Job Description

Would you like to be part of a growing engineering capability in a people-centric organisation? Or perhaps work in an open and collaborative learning environment? Are you passionate about technology, people and developing your coding skills? We have got all this and more. Whatever your aspirations, we’re looking for engineers to be part of an exceptional technology capability, providing dedicated engineering capacity for our clients.

At Credera, we work with a range of clients and help them to level-up their engineering capabilities in a partnership model. Through our Delivery Centre, we help them build microservices architectures, develop AI and machine learning capabilities and operate cloud infrastructure. As part of the Delivery Centre team, you’ll collaborate with architects, technology consultants and client stakeholders, giving you a chance to hone your skills across the latest technologies, development and operational practices, and cloud platforms, whilst growing your career.

The central hub for this position is in Newcastle, but we welcome applicants from across the North-East. We operate a hybrid working policy with an expectation of 60% in office time. We value collaboration and client impact, so our hybrid model is designed to strike a balance between flexibility, in-person connection, and delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.

Please note: Due to the nature of this role and specific client engagement, any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory BPSS and SC security clearance. To meet the client's eligibility requirements, applicants must have been resident in the UK for the last five years and must not have spent more than six consecutive months outside the UK during that period.

Requirements

As an Engineer in Credera’s Delivery Centre capability, you’ll work as part of a close-knit team supporting one of our long-term client partnerships alongside architects, support engineers, and delivery leaders. Building on Credera’s reputation for engineering excellence, you’ll have a chance to learn from a team of experts who can help you develop into a future technical leader.

As a delivery centre engineer at this level you will work as part of a close-knit team with a senior consulting engineer, who will engage with clients directly, typically on site, shape initial problems and translate requirements into technical tasks. You’ll be expected to deliver defined work packages with limited supervision, plan your own workload, elevate blockers promptly and propose practical solutions, while beginning to support and share knowledge with more junior colleagues. You’ll be transparent, act with humility and be a strong communicator; using the wider team’s expertise as an opportunity to develop.

You’ll Have
  • The ability to work collaboratively, communicating clearly and professionally and sharing updates with your team
  • Experience of back-end / data engineering across a number of languages (including Python), and commonly used IDE’s
  • Experience with developing, scheduling, maintaining and resolving issues with batch or micro-batch jobs on AWS ETL or Azure ETL services
  • Experience querying data stored on AWS S3 or Azure ADLSv2, or through a Lakehouse capability
  • Experience in managing API-level and Database connectivity
  • Experience using source control and DevOps tooling such as Gitlab
  • Experience in use of terraform (or similar cloud native products) to build new data & analytics platform capabilities
  • Experience supporting live service within a standard Service Management environment
  • The ability to deliver defined work packages and tickets to agreed time and quality following established processes and standards
  • The ability to contribute to short-term team planning, and elevate blockers promptly while proposing practical solutions
  • A structured, methodical approach, applying established methods to identify and help resolve delivery issues and seeking guidance where needed
  • You will be required to hold active SC clearance for this role.
Desirable skills
  • Experience automating operations tasks with one or more scripting languages.
  • Experience with developing data features and associated transformation procedures on a modern data platform. Examples include (but not limited to) Azure Fabric, AWS Lakeformation, Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Experience in configuring logging, alerting and managing observability of data jobs and pipelines using AWS or Azure services.
  • Experience with working with relational databases, such as PostGres, Oracle DB or MySQL
  • Experience working within a team, in an agile, iterative engineering environment.
  • Experience using AI or Agentic techniques in application of the role through GitHub CoPilot, Claude Code, or equivalent.
  • A drive for self-improvement, identifying personal development goals and building capability through training and peer learning.
  • Approach problem solving pragmatically, selecting and applying appropriate tools and approaches within established frameworks.
  • You’ll need to be perceptive, personable, culturally sensitive and demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence.
