Job summary

Searchability is seeking a DevOps Engineer (Azure / Terraform) to own cloud infrastructure and automation for an education-sector client. The role is Newcastle-based with remote work and one day per month in the Newcastle office. You will write Terraform code, enhance observability and build CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on Azure experience and strong scripting with CI/CD, PowerShell and related tools, with focus on security hardening and monitoring.

DevOps Engineer (Azure / Terraform)

• Strong mid-level or senior DevOps Engineer opportunity supporting an education-sector client.
• Newcastle-based, working remotely with one day per month in the Newcastle office.
• Hands-on Azure infrastructure, Terraform development and observability.
• Immediate availability preferred, with a November start required.

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is an established software consultancy delivering technology solutions across the public and private sectors. They are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of cloud infrastructure and automation on an existing education-sector assignment. Previous education-sector experience is not required.

THE DEVOPS ENGINEER ROLE

You will build, maintain and improve Azure infrastructure, writing Terraform code and reusable modules to support consistent, reliable deployments.

Working alongside engineering teams, you will develop CI/CD pipelines, strengthen infrastructure security and investigate production issues. You will use application telemetry, logs and metrics to understand system behaviour and improve reliability.

This role requires practical infrastructure engineering experience, including the ability to explain the code, configuration and technical decisions behind your work.

DEVOPS ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Strong hands-on Azure infrastructure experience.
• Experience writing Terraform configurations and reusable modules.
• Practical Application Insights experience and the ability to write KQL queries for troubleshooting.
• Experience implementing observability, monitoring and alerting.
• Infrastructure configuration and security hardening experience, with an understanding of the controls implemented.
• CI/CD and scripting experience.
• Ability to attend the Newcastle office once per month.
