Senior Azure Cloud Engineer – Hybrid (Scotland) - £47K/£52K p.a. + Benefits

We’re looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to help shape our clients Azure platform and drive their digital future to be reliable, robust and adaptable to the needs of our people and communities.

The role:
  • This key role is about engineering secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions in Azure that power essential public services. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising Azure infrastructure to meet both the current operational needs and future growth of services.
  • You’ll work on building and configuring Azure landing zones, setting up networking and security, and ensuring that our cloud platform adheres to best practices, ensuring it’s both reliable and ready for the future. Collaboration will be key in this role as you work closely with cross-functional teams to make sure the solutions you develop are fully integrated, aligned with business goals, and driven by a clear cloud strategy.
  • Additionally, you’ll drive continuous improvement across the cloud infrastructure, applying the Azure Well-Architected Framework to ensure the platform’s high performance, security, and cost-effectiveness. You’ll also play an important role in mentoring colleagues, sharing cloud best practices, and helping to raise the overall cloud maturity across the teams.
  • This role is key in supporting our clients cloud-first transformation and will directly impact the development of a future-ready digital platform.

To apply you should have the following skills and experience:
  • Deep Azure expertise
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps
  • Practical knowledge in cloud adoption scenarios - cloud-scale analytics, modern application platforms, and Azure VMware.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure and M365 technologies, such as:
    • Virtual Machines, API Management, Storage (Blob, File, Data Lake), Azure SQL Databases, IoT, Containers (AKS, Azure Functions), Networking (NSGs, Azure Firewall, Application Gateway)
    • Data Factory, Stream Analytics, Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Power Platform
    • Infrastructure as Code (preferably Bicep) and cloud provisioning scripts
    • CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git
Beyond technical skills, we’re looking for someone who can collaborate effectively with architects and product teams, drive improvements in cloud infrastructure, and mentor junior colleagues. The ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels and keep a customer-focused mindset is essential in this role.
