Job summary

Genomics England in London is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join the Use Research Data team, shaping platforms and data services that enable researchers to securely access genomic health data and drive healthcare outcomes.

You will guide architectural decisions across application, data, infrastructure and security, balance long‑term direction with delivery, and ensure solutions are secure by design while meeting governance and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing AWS solution architectures in complex data-intensive environments.
• Experience designing across application, data, infrastructure and security domains.
• Proven ability to translate business/research needs into practical technical designs and delivery roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid architecture patterns and best practices.
• Experience balancing architectural direction with immediate delivery needs.
• Excellent communication to technical and non-technical audiences and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of Use Research Data solutions, ensuring security, scalability and resilience.
• Design end-to-end solutions across application, data, infrastructure, integration and security domains.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, scientists and data security teams to clarify requirements and options.
• Shape technical roadmaps balancing delivery priorities with long-term architectural direction.
• Ensure secure storage, processing and access to large-scale genomic/health datasets.
• Provide governance and assurance through design forums and lifecycle delivery.
