  2. Cloud Security: Develop and implement security architectures, ensuring data protection, compliance, and best practices (AWS IAM, encryption, VPC, monitoring, auditing).
  3. Containerisation & Orchestration: Architect and oversee Kubernetes environments for high availability and scalability.
  4. Event-Driven Systems: Lead architecture of systems using Kafka for real-time data processing across microservices.
  5. Microservices Architecture: Design and oversee microservices-based systems, focusing on Java backend services.
  6. Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to teams on complex technical challenges.
  7. Security & Compliance: Ensure architectures comply with regulations (GDPR, HIPAA) and security policies.
  8. CI/CD & Automation: Promote pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and automation.
  9. Collaboration: Work with DevOps, engineering, product management, and stakeholders to align strategies.
  10. Performance & Cost Optimization: Drive performance tuning and cost management strategies.
  11. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks.
  12. Documentation & Standards: Maintain architectural standards, design patterns, and documentation.

The Fit:

Ideal candidate has experience in large-scale cloud systems with AWS, security architecture, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), Kafka, Java, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), monitoring tools, serverless (Lambda), and holds relevant AWS certifications. Understanding of TOGAF is a plus. Must be a British citizen with at least 5 years UK residence for security clearance.
