Job summary

Social Security Scotland is recruiting for an Associate Security Architect to join the Security Architecture Team within the Digital Risk & Security Branch. The role focuses on designing secure architectures with an emphasis on AWS cloud environments and alignment to public sector security standards.

You will provide security guidance to delivery teams, ensure proportionate controls, and support secure development across programmes, with hybrid working options in Glasgow or Dundee.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience designing and implementing secure architectures across AWS cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments.
• Knowledge of government security standards and frameworks and applying them in AWS.
• Ability to communicate security risks and concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and review system architectures using Secure by Design principles and AWS best practices.
• Recommend security controls aligned with government standards.
• Provide specialist security guidance to delivery teams across design, build and implementation phases.
• Assess security risks and advise on tolerances and mitigation.
• Maintain and evolve security documentation and architecture artefacts.
• Define and review AWS security controls and guardrails.
