Job summary

Copello is seeking a Cloud Architect to join a specialist technology organisation delivering complex, highly secure cloud solutions in Surrey. This hands-on role combines technical leadership, customer engagement and delivery of secure, scalable AWS environments.

You will shape cloud strategies, guide implementation and ensure security, resilience, performance and cost are optimised. DV clearance is a mandatory requirement.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering cloud-based programmes in Defence, National Security, Government or the wider Public Sector.
• Strong experience designing and implementing AWS solutions (EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, Lambda).
• Background in customer-facing technical consultancy advising on cloud architecture.
• Knowledge of cloud security, risk assessment and management of security requirements.
• Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, load balancing, firewalls).
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and automation.
• Scripting experience with Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Ability to assess complex tech info, identify risks and communicate solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cloud architecture strategies, standards and best practices (AWS focus).
• Design secure, scalable, highly available, resilient cloud solutions.
• Lead implementation of cloud infrastructure, automation and migration projects.
• Establish and maintain cloud governance including security controls and cost optimisation.
• Assess existing infrastructure, identify risks and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with customers and technical teams during delivery of cloud solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to engineering, development and operations teams.
• Drive continuous improvements in cloud performance, reliability and automation.
