Data Engineering and Delivery Lead

The Data Engineering & Delivery Lead has end-to-end ownership of the existing Data estate and is responsible for delivering strategic portfolio changes. Arch is embarking on a large data transformation and requires an experienced Delivery Lead to oversee large data programs, liaising closely with Business, Change Management, and 3rd Parties to ensure timely, quality delivery that meets technical and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of strategic data programs, ensuring scope, budget, and quality adherence.
• Collaborate with Data Governance, Business, and stakeholders to drive change.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and report to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with policies and best practices throughout project lifecycle.
• Manage resources, including vendors, and ensure alignment with strategic vision.
• Develop and maintain systems and technologies, monitoring SDLC and support levels.
• Identify opportunities to leverage technology for business improvements.
• Prepare business cases and evaluate new technologies based on strategic needs.
• Lead business analysis, development, and quality assurance efforts.
• Contribute to IT standards, policies, and procedures.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging data technologies.
• Manage department budget, including forecasting, expenditures, and negotiations.
• Lead and develop the team through recruitment, training, and performance management.

Role Requirements

Skills / Competencies

• Extensive knowledge of modern databases, Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of software development techniques and programming languages.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proactive problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Experience with automation, Agile development, and insurance/data systems.
• Knowledge of Python, PowerBI is a plus.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven track record in delivering data programs within the insurance sector.
• Bachelor’s degree and 10-15 years of related experience in software development, architecture, project management, and business analysis.
• Significant management experience; prior financial services/insurance experience is beneficial.
