Job summary

Unknown is seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer (AVP level) to join a high-performing Application Production Support team in London. You will support a low-latency cash equities trading platform, working alongside front office traders, quants, and developers to ensure stability, performance, and continuous improvement of a mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

Strong experience supporting trading systems or low-latency platforms.
Proficient in Unix/Linux environments and system troubleshooting.
Proficient in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, Go).
Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana).
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, latency).
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems under pressure.
Experience in production support / SRE / APS environments.
Exposure to electronic trading, equities, or financial markets.
Experience with log management tools (Splunk, OpenSearch).
Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka, Tibco, Solace).
Familiarity with databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, KD B+).
Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Corvil).
Background in high-availability, high-throughput environments.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on Level 1/2/3 support for the Cash Equities Execution platform.
Sit with High Touch and Low Touch trading desks, supporting real-time trading activities.
Monitor system health, performance, and trading flows across global markets.
Develop and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability framework.
Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and deliver timely resolutions.
Own and manage incident lifecycle, including post-incident reporting.
Collaborate closely with Front Office developers, quants, and BA teams.
Support production releases and deployments, ensuring minimal disruption.
Automate manual processes using scripting to improve efficiency and reliability.
Maintain and improve operational documentation (runbooks, procedures, tools).
Participate in on-call and weekend rotations as part of a global support model.
