Job summary

British Airways Engineering Wales is seeking a Technical Support Engineer - Avionics to deliver practical, cost-effective avionics repair designs and provide specialist guidance to production and planning teams.

You will work with OEMs and airlines to ensure compliance with Part 145 and Part 21, investigate complex issues, and lead investigations following Technical or Mandatory Occurrence Reports, while upholding safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• GCSEs English and Maths at grade C or above.
• HNC/HND or engineering degree in engineering field.
• Experience in avionics systems and repair design on commercial aircraft (e.g., Boeing).
• Knowledge of Part 145 and Part 21 requirements.
• Experience with OEM and approved design documentation.
• Technical Services Engineer experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical avionics repair designs and installation solutions for safe, timely aircraft delivery.
• Prepare repair design documentation under Part 145 and Part 21 approvals.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues; provide guidance to teams.
• Collaborate with customers, aircraft manufacturers, OEMs and design reps to meet requirements.
• Lead investigations following Technical or Mandatory Occurrence Reports.
• Research and support approval of alternative tools and equipment.
• Prepare and issue Technical News Circulars and coordinate distribution of information.
• Uphold professional standards; coach and develop colleagues.
• Deputise for the Production Support Manager - Planning as required.
