Job summary

A leading company in the aerospace sector is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for their Clearance team to assist in Qualification & Certification activities for avionic updates. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into Typhoon aircraft avionics while collaborating with a range of technical stakeholders to ensure the successful release of new capabilities.

Qualifications

Job description

As a Senior Systems Engineer in our customers' Clearance team, you will assist with Qualification & Certification activities for key avionic system updates. This is an important role supporting the qualification of design changes across a number of avionic sub-systems, and the engineer will work closely with test, integration, and support teams to release new capabilities in line with programme demands.

It offers the opportunity to gain an understanding of Typhoon aircraft Avionics across the full engineering lifecycle, working with a broad network of technical stakeholders, both internally and across a consortium of multi-national partner companies.

Ideally, you should have experience of qualification and certification for military aircraft avionics, but candidates with experience in the civil aircraft sector will also be considered.

Work Experience

Required Skills (Technical Competency)

  • Recent Military or civil aircraft Qualification & Certification experience
  • Generation of Airworthiness and Flight Clearance documentation
  • Working with other Avionics teams to plan and gather required qualification & certification inputs from SIL rig testing, flight trials, etc.
  • Assessment of Qualification & Certification evidence, identifying any shortfalls and their impact
  • Ability to identify potential safety issues and liaise with appropriate teams to resolve
  • Identifying and tracking dependencies
  • Working closely with external assessors/stakeholders (i.e., Qual & Cert / Airworthiness), to secure independent assessment and approval of Clearances
  • Assessing the traceability of Clearance evidence
  • Presentation of Certification evidence for formal sign-off
  • Tracking and managing Clearance baselines across complex product variants
  • Supporting programme reviews, as required

Desired Skills

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of the Typhoon (or similar military aircraft) platform and the Qualification & Certification processes required (e.g., Eurofighter QAPs, UK MAA certification processes, EASA civil certification processes).
  • Experience with JIRA agile project management tools
  • Experience using Product Safety analysis processes and toolsets (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis, ISOgraph toolsets such as Reliability Workbench).
