Department for Transport in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Domestic Aviation Safety Policy Advisor and Head of Rulemaking to oversee UK aviation safety rulemaking and coordinate with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The role works on open policy-making, manages policy interfaces, and develops domestic policy in a fast-evolving regulatory environment.

Qualifications

• Experience developing policy and open policy-making approaches.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders across government and industry.
• Strong organisational skills to juggle multiple priorities.
• Ability to present technical information clearly in written and spoken form.
• Solid understanding of the legislative process and secondary legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead on domestic policy areas, including dangerous goods policy.
• Coordinate policy interfaces between Aviation Directorate and external stakeholders.
• Provide proactive advice to Ministers and senior officials on policy challenges.
• Oversee aviation safety rulemaking in collaboration with the CAA.
• Coordinate and run the department's secondary legislation programme.
• Build close working relationships with the CAA for oversight of delegated rulemaking power.
