Job summary

MANTECH in Mildenhall, UK seeks an Aviation Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to join the vehicle sustainment team. You will support logistics for multiple vehicle families on ALECS, performing inspections, repairs and overhauls of aviation ground support systems.

The role requires 4+ years of mechanical experience or 8+ years with trade certification, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel to mission locations across US, Europe and the Pacific.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, rebuild, or overhaul major assemblies of engines, hydraulics, fuel pumps and lines for aviation ground support equipment.
• Replace worn parts, adjust valves, and repair power and ignition systems.
• Provide maintenance support including troubleshooting and repair to component level.
• Maintain records and documentation for data processing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Aviation Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to join our vehicle sustainment team in Mildenhall, UK. The selected candidate will provide logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Inspects, repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion engines, hydraulic cylinders, fuel pumps, fuel/hydraulic lines, voltage regulators and generators used in aviation ground support equipment.
• Work involves replacing worn or broken parts such as motors, bearings, or other engine parts; adjusting valves; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
• Maintenance support including operations of powered and non-powered units, system troubleshooting, engineering, analysis, maintenance and repair of commercial and military aviation ground support systems and subsystems to the component level.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical power support systems by verifying proper fuel, lubricants and coolant levels. Effectively applies industry or military standard troubleshooting procedures to localize and isolate faulty system components.
• Maintains and prepares records and documentation to ensure accurate and timely data processing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of qualified mechanical experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field (OR) 8+ years of qualified mechanical experience and a trade school certification or associate degree in a related field (OR) 10+ years of qualified mechanical experience.
• Qualified mechanical experience includes one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, ground power units, aircraft tugs, air conditioning and heater units, cargo loaders, de-icing vehicles, runway sweepers, light carts, fuel and defuel equipment.
• Experience with maintenance support to include operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to component level.
• Experience with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters; experience applying industry and/or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components.
• Willingness to travel to mission locations within the United States, Europe and Pacific region on an as needed basis and work 40+ hours on missions that will vary in length.
• Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED, and a Passport valid for at least one year beyond the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with commercial and military aviation ground support equipment.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.
