Job summary

Vantage Consulting Limited is seeking an AVEVA PI Engineer for Coventry with hybrid working. You will deliver digital engineering projects, taking technical responsibility from requirements through commissioning and providing ongoing AVEVA-based support.

The role requires strong AVEVA experience, SCADA and networking skills, and the ability to work across multiple industries. Travel to customer sites in the UK and abroad may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver digital engineering projects aligned with quality, safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead technical responsibility from requirements to commissioning.
• Provide ongoing technical support for AVEVA-based and third-party solutions.
• Coordinate testing with internal teams, customers, and third-party stakeholders.
• Produce and review technical documentation including specifications, test docs, and operating manuals.
• Ensure delivery against time, cost, and quality targets.
• Identify risks and opportunities and communicate with stakeholders.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and guide the team.
• Collaborate with service teams for effective delivery and issue resolution.
• Contribute technically to bids and proposals with estimates and plans.
• Represent engineering in customer meetings and technical discussions.

AVEVA PI Engineer

Coventry - hybrid working

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver digital engineering projects in line with company quality, health & safety, cybersecurity, project delivery and regulatory requirements.
• Take technical responsibility for projects, including requirements definition, system architecture, configuration, programming, testing, installation and commissioning.
• Provide ongoing technical support for AVEVA-based and third-party solutions, helping customers adopt modernisation and digitalisation best practices.
• Review engineering deliverables and coordinate structured testing with internal teams, customers and third-party stakeholders.
• Produce and review technical documentation, including system specifications, test documentation, operating procedures and support manuals.
• Ensure technical solutions are delivered against agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
• Identify technical, delivery and commercial risks and opportunities, communicating these clearly to project and customer-facing stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
• Work closely with service teams to support effective technical delivery and timely resolution of customer issues.
• Provide technical input into bids and proposals, including estimates, delivery planning and solution development.
• Represent the engineering function in customer meetings and technical discussions where required.

Skills & Experience

• Strong practical experience with AVEVA technologies, with a good understanding of industrial digitalisation and modernisation solutions.
• Experience across SCADA, telemetry, industrial networking and software engineering.
• Exposure to platforms such as Geo SCADA, EcoStruxure Automation Expert or comparable industrial automation technologies.
• Experience working within project environments, either in a lead or supporting engineering capacity, across the full project lifecycle.
• Demonstrable experience delivering projects against agreed cost, quality and timescale requirements.
• Willingness and ability to work at customer sites in the UK and, where required, internationally.
• Understanding of cloud, hybrid cloud and on-premise architectures.
• Awareness of cybersecurity principles applicable to industrial control and operational technology environments.
• Experience within two or more relevant industries, such as Water & Wastewater, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Critical National Infrastructure, Renewable Energy or similar sectors.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and best practice effectively to customers and non-specialist stakeholders.
• Experience facilitating technical discovery, UX/UI or digitalisation workshops and translating customer requirements into practical solution designs.
• Knowledge of industrial communications, networking and modern integration technologies such as OPC UA, MQTT and REST APIs.
• Comfortable working with common operating systems and standard business software.
• Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to identify, communicate and manage project risks and commercial opportunities.
