AV Installation Engineer | Tenterden, Kent | Full Time | From £28,000 per annum

Our client has been established since 1913 and has been providing home entertainment from the very beginning. They take pride in enhancing their clients' lives through the use of technology. As one of the highly recognised systems integrators in the UK, they design, supply and install audio, television, lighting, data and Wi-Fi networks and other bespoke technology into a fully integrated and easy to use solution. Their projects range from high-end private homes to multi dwelling residential developments and commercial settings. Operating primarily in the Southeast, they work with renowned architects, designers and construction professionals.

They're growing their team and seeking a skilled, proactive Installation Engineer who's reliable, personable, and ready to build a long-term career with a close-knit team.

This hands-on role involves the installation and commissioning of both residential and commercial systems, including home automation and control systems, lighting control, multi-room audio, home cinema builds, and security solutions.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Previous experience in a similar role is required
• Basic understanding of construction phases and roles
• Previous experience in systems integration preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required
• Industry-recognised credentials (CEDIA, AVIXA, manufacturer, etc.) preferred
• Brings a positive attitude, professional appearance, strong customer service skills, and a stellar work ethic
• Demonstrates creative and strategic thinking, excellent judgment, and strong problem-solving abilities, including negotiation and conflict resolution
• Works independently and collaboratively as part of a team, balancing competing priorities and tight deadlines while working well under pressure
• Patient and able to remain calm in stressful situations
• Strong management and leadership skills, capable of leading and motivating others
• Able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends

What will your role look like?

• Understanding of programming, installation, and commissioning of home automation systems, including Control4, Lutron, Smart Home, Home Cinema, Audio Visual, Networking, CCTV, and Outdoor AV equipment
• Construction and build out of cinema rooms and media room solutions systems, such as fabric tracking, LED lighting and baffle walls
• Installation, termination and testing of infrastructure cabling for Data, Speaker, Coaxial and Fibre cables
• Maintenance and service of AV systems
• Understanding and interpretation of AV schematics, construction drawings such as floorplans and system documentation, operational/product manuals
• Provide training and handovers on-site to the end user
• Understanding of Comms Rack builds and common standards
• Service calls and methodical fault finding, troubleshooting and resolution
• Uses hand and power tools safely
• Travel to job sites via company vehicles or public transport
• Maintains company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles
• Interacts with clients, builders, designers, architects, and other industry professionals.
• Completion and submission of required paperwork
• Commitment to safe working practices and maintaining Health and Safety requirements, and maintaining a clean, tidy working environment
• Attend training courses as necessary and become fully conversant with all business areas and office procedures
• Flexibility to undertake diverse tasks, including project work, report production, and assisting wider teams within the business
