About the role

The expected hourly rate for this position is $39.53. This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Covanta is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.

As an Auxiliary Operator, you will work in collaboration with our facility control room to operate and inspect various power plant systems safely and efficiently to ensure the operational effectiveness of Reworld's industrial disposal process.

Position Responsibilities:

• Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, including boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment.
• Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators, and electrical devices.
• Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and potential equipment disruptions.
• Monitor air pollution control equipment.
• Perform material sampling, chemistry testing, and water treatment as required.
• Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts.
• Maintain correct levels of refuse-fuel in operations equipment and ensure proper refuse mix in designated pits and areas.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating heavy industrial equipment.
• Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.
