Job summary

Lewes Neighbourhood Mental Health Team in Newhaven, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, seeks an experienced Occupational Therapist for an autonomous Band 6 role. The base is Newhaven, near the South Downs and Brighton, with opportunities for innovative group treatments and research involvement.

The role focuses on assessments, care coordination, risk management and care planning within a collaborative, supportive multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy is required.
• Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist.
• Postgraduate level study or training evidence.
• Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health.
• Experience with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience of group and individual work.
• Training in standardised OT assessment tools.

Responsibilities

• Undertake assessments of individuals and families with complex health presentations and risk.
• Co-develop care plans with service users.
• Offer specialist assessments and advice.
• Assess and manage ongoing risks with service users and carers.
• Provide supervision of junior staff and trainees.

Education

Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy

Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist

Practice Education training

Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools

Evidence of post graduate level study/training

Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health

Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems

Experience of both group and individual work

Experience of multidisciplinary working
