Job summary

Harlow College is seeking an Automotive Technician to support practical sessions, preparing equipment and resources for teaching staff. The role involves stock/tool organisation, and assisting with vehicle repairs and workshop maintenance to keep the automotive programs running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has a Level 2 qualification in Automotive Technology, GCSEs of at least C/4 in Maths and English, and a willingness to undertake First Aid training.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Automotive Technology.
• GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
• Be First Aid at work trained (full 3-day course) or willing to undertake the training.
• While a teaching qualification is not mandatory, strong communication and collaboration within a team are valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist in practical sessions, ensuring equipment and resources are prepared for effective teaching delivery.
• Supervise student use of Tools & Equipment as needed.
• Organise and maintain stock, tools, and oversee general vehicle repairs and workshop maintenance.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students.
• Support teaching staff to maintain Health & Safety and housekeeping in workshops.
• Maintenance of Automotive Resources.
• Delivery of key units within Automotive Curriculum timetable.
• Assist team in planning and maintenance of Teaching and Learning strategies.
