Test Engineer (Automotive: e.g., powertrain, infotainment, ADAS, EV systems)

Certain Advantage is recruiting on behalf of a globally renowned automotive brand for an Automotive Test Engineer with experience in automotive testing (e.g., powertrain, infotainment, ADAS, EV systems) and proficiency in using automotive industry test tools and data acquisition systems (e.g., Vector tools, NI LabVIEW, INCA).

This is a contract role inside IR35 until 31st Dec, based in Coventry.

The role

• Be a point of contact for internal customers, liaising with stakeholders to gather testing requirements and inputs according to process for the assigned project.
• Coordinate with Testbed operators to ensure timely delivery of test plans.
• Report on KPIs to demonstrate project performance, identifying and resolving dependencies early.
• Ensure readiness of equipment, instrumentation, test plans, scripts, software, and calibrations to enable quality data collection.
• Provide support and guidance on automation and measurement systems, showcasing best practices.
• Review customer test plans and collaborate with the automation team to develop validated test cases.
• Commission new systems and troubleshoot existing systems.
• Support commissioning and sign-off of new test facilities and equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Develop and review processes, ensuring compliance with standards such as IATF 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001.

Essential candidate experience

• Experience with test facilities, processes, equipment, and leading automotive technologies.
• Automotive testing experience (e.g., powertrain, infotainment, ADAS, EV systems).
• Knowledge of automotive standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 26262, CAN, LIN, AUTOSAR).
• Proficiency with test tools and data acquisition systems (e.g., Vector, NI LabVIEW, INCA).
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ability to interpret and explain engineering documents.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
• Ability to present complex issues clearly to diverse audiences.
• Experience in problem-solving and engineering analysis.
• Proficiency with project management tools.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite for planning, reporting, and documentation.
