Role Description

The Automotive Technician role at Lookers Land Rover is a full-time, on-site position based in Spennymoor. The technician will carry out routine vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs in line with manufacturer standards. Daily responsibilities include performing scheduled services, oil changes, suspension checks, and resolving maintenance and repair issues to ensure vehicle safety and performance. The role involves accurately documenting work, using diagnostic equipment, collaborating with service advisors and colleagues, and maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment. The technician will also provide clear technical feedback to support excellent customer service and adherence to quality and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in vehicle maintenance and routine servicing, including scheduled checks and inspections.
• Hands-on experience with oil changes and related fluid services.
• Proficiency in automotive repair and general maintenance & repair tasks across various vehicle systems.
• Knowledge of suspension systems, including inspection, diagnosis, and repair of related components.
• Relevant automotive technical qualification or apprenticeship (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Experience working in a franchised dealership or professional workshop environment is beneficial.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools, follow technical instructions, and work to manufacturer standards.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to safely move and test vehicles.
